Canada is stating that their next fighter aircraft will be a competitive process.
Canada says no guarantee it will buy F-35 fighters
"Canada has not made a decision that (it) would procure the Joint Strike Fighter ... When it comes to the actual decision as which aircraft to purchase, it will be on a competitive basis,"

Looks like the Australian Government is playing the same hide and seek game over the the F-35 done deal.
I wonder if Australia and Canada are being instructed by Lockheed's Pentagon on what to say and when?
I am glad that Canadian holds back her commitment and keep her options open --- it just seems nuts to commit $billions of state budget to a fighter jet (not on a fix-price contract even) that has yet to finish its flight test. Design flaws were discovered in both F16 and F18 (and any jets for that matter) even after the jets completed flight tests. i can't see why F35 will be an exception; there oughts to be a limit to the benefit of doubt that we give to defense contractors, in this case Lockheed Martin.
